Our design studio have been busy working on some personalised items for a recent baby shower. Megan asked us to produce a selection of printed items, including personalised baby prediction cards so all the guests could play along and guess a few details about the baby before he or she arrived, stickers for popcorn cones (aptly printed with ‘Ready to Pop!’) and also some square tags, which we punched, ready to be tied onto organza bags containing gifts for the lucky guests!
As the gender of the baby was to be a surprise, Christie used neutral shades of green & lemon to compliment the designs.

It’s an exciting day in our design studio today! We’ve been experimenting with some new foils which will allow us to add foiling to short run digital print work. Foil adds an extra special touch to wedding stationery and invitations, but it can also be used to make your printed promotional material that little bit more luxurious and help you to really stand out from the crowd.
We’ll post another update as soon as we have some finished samples for you to have a look at, we’re all really looking forward to seeing what the design team come up with using this new finishing technique.

Hot off the press in our digital production studio this week is this stylish booklet for Gen2 Engineering. They wanted a practical booklet for use in reception areas, which was clean and modern. Quite a bespoke job, the booklet features a canadian binding. We printed from the customers PDF file supplied, ensuring everything was perfect before printing.
Fantastic print quality paired with gloss lamination to the covers ensures that this booklet really looks the part.
Today is Steph’s last day with us for 12 months as she leaves us to await the arrival of her gorgeous Baby Boy! All the staff and Directors here would like to wish her and the family all the very best and look forward to cuddles and visits when baby arrives! xxx

We’d like to wish Claire & Mark congratulations for their wedding on Saturday 25th June 2016. The Firpress staff were delighted to celebrate and share their special day with them. We were on hand in the weeks leading up to the wedding to design & produce all the wedding stationery required for her big day. This included an A1 table plan, order of service cards, wedding postbox, personalised individual place cards and children’s colouring books – all designed to match in with her wedding invitation set. Here’s a few photos below from the big day.

A warm Firpress welcome to our newest recruit Dave Marsden! Dave will be joining Dan, Steph & Christie in the design studio. Feel free to call in and have a chat to him about any upcoming design projects you may have. We asked Dave a few questions about how he’s settling in here at Firpress:
How do you feel about joining the Firpress Team?
Really enjoying it! I have been working as a sole designer for the last three years and its great being back as part of a team. Learning about nice fonts, shortcuts, bouncing ideas back and forth with like minded people! Everyone here is super friendly and even Finn (the resident guard dog) likes me, so I can’t complain.
What are your favourite design projects to work on?
Anything creative! I’ve been pretty specialised for the last three years so it’s nice to be able to work on a variety of jobs and get out of my comfort zone!
C’mon Dave, tell us your favourite font!!
Haha, I think I’m probably one of the few designers that doesn’t have one! Every font serves a purpose or fits a style! There are so many good fonts out there now I don’t think i could chose just one.
Most importantly….do you like cake?! (This is the key to surviving life in the studio…)
Who doesn’t like cake! It’s like my kryptonite, so far I’ve managed to avoid binging on it. However there are cakes and biscuits everywhere…so i don’t have high hopes, especially with everyone trying to lead me astray. Mmmmm cake.
Wow! Natalie’s wedding invitations look stunning! Our Junior Graphic Designer Christie worked with with her to create a typographic invitation design, utilising vintage typefaces and decorative bunting illustrations to complete the look.
The invitations were printed onto 240gsm kraft card. We provided the invitation and mount cards, Natalie set to work on mounting the invitation cards and wrapping each one individually in hessian & lace, with a string bow to finish.

We were asked to design a bright, eye-catching poster & co-ordinating information leaflet. for this years Paint the Town Red event in Workington. The brief stated that it was important that all information should be displayed clearly on the poster and that it should also incorporate some imagery to break up the text. Our design studio came up with the initial poster design below. Once we had that in place, we moved on to designing the information leaflet, which would highlight all the activities and events happening throughout the day.
The information leaflets were to be designed at A4 size, so that they can be folded down to DL size. This gave us 3 panels on each side of the leaflet to work with, which is lots of space to organise & display all the events which are going on around the town centre. We utilised the red brick background from the poster design, displaying the information in boxes with tape on the corners, so it looked like the notes had been stuck to the wall.
Amy was really happy with how the leaflets turned out!
Have a look at these gorgeous Baby Milestone Cards we designed and produced for With Love Photography! Sam got in touch with us, she wanted to create some unique Baby Milestone Cards to hand out to customers who booked a newborn baby shoot at With Love Photography. The idea is that as the child grows, the parents could photograph them at those important milestones holding the Baby Milestone Cards.
Our Senior Graphic Designer Steph worked her magic to create an eye-catching, unique typographic style utilising With Love Photography’s branding colours. The cards were A6 in size, printed both sides in full colour onto a high quality digital board, cut to size and round cornered.
Here is the finished product being modelled by the beautiful Poppy Matilda. Sam was thrilled with the finished product, anyone booking a newborn photo shoot with With Love Photography should be receiving a pack to play with!

- BA Hons in Graphic Design desired (minimum qualification HND in Graphic Design)
- Working experience of the Adobe Suite including Indesign, Photoshop & Illustrator.
- A passion for design.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills as you will be dealing directly with customers.
- Good organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
35 hours per week. Salary dependent on qualifications & experience
